Where I started

In 1997 I learned to tell stories from an Old Northern Cheyenne man John TwoPonies, who lived on the Dine Rez at the time. The first story I learned was Little Mouse - Jumping Mouse

Since that time I have learned many more stories from different nations.
The stories speak not only to the peoples they were first given to, but also to the rest of us. The stories have reasons why things are, lessons on how to live and just plain old entertainment.

A part of The Story Nation's Story as told to me by The Story Nation

There are many different ways The Story Nation came to the human beings. The Nation is so old no one knows how it came to be. Theses Beings have come to humans in different ways. They have come from the rocks, the stars, the animals and the plants, they have come from Creator.
The Story Nation have different groups as do the other nations. All things carry some aspect of The Story Nation, the stars, the trees, the rocks, the animals, human beings etc. There are different groups of The Story Nation that explain all things for each peoples.
Often there are people whose job it is to take care of the different groups of The Story Nation beings that can live with that group of peoples.
There are Story Beings that tell of Creation, of why things are the way they are, how to live. The Story Nation contains beings that have all the instructions for a people. The Creation Story Beings each have their own groups.
Those Story Beings that are of the Trickster group each have groups for the Coyote and Raven and Rabbit and all the tricksters.
There are Story Beings within each of these groups that have small groups that pertain to each human, plant and animal group.
The Story Nation was Created as were all things, by Mahoe, Creator or whatever name you use for the one who made us.

The Story Nation has its own stories of how they came to be and how they came to the humans, plants and animals. As Human Beings we need The Story Nation and its beings, inorder to know how we came to be and how we are to live. The Story Nation needs human beings, plants and animals so they have a lodge to live in. Without a place to live they float about waiting or wait in the starts rocks etc. Waiting for someone to take them in, give them tangible life and help the people. When one of these beings is told, it is able to exhale and when someone listenes it can inhale. That is the cycle of its breathing. If these things are not passed on they have no blood and will cease to breath for they will be forgotten and not told and not listened to, they will return to their Waiting.
